The MacBook and MacBook Air are certainly due for an update, having been last refreshed in 20, respectively. Will we see a new MacBook Air, iPad Mini or Mac Mini at WWDC 2018 Commentary: Some of Apple’s most beloved (and least expensive) products havent been updated in years.
It was Apples 28th annual Worldwide Developers Conference, held from June 5 to 9, 2017. for its developers at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California for the first time since 2002. To kick off WWDC this year, Apple gave us a glimpse of what the world would be like without. Bloomberg claims Apple is working on an updated version of its 12-inch entry-level MacBook, and is even considering a refresh of the wildly popular, ultra-portable, and woefully outdated MacBook Air.

With WWDC 2022 coming up in June we should hopefully hear more about Apple’s plans for the new M2 chipsets and devices. Apple really wants you to think of the 13-inch MacBook Pro as the Air’s successor. Worldwide Developers Conference 2017 (or WWDC 2017 or WWDC17) was a computer conference that was hosted by Apple Inc. Apple’s idea of an apocalypse is a world without apps. M2 Max is said to feature 12 CPU cores and a whopping 38 GPU cores.Īpple is also working on a Mac Mini which will use the M2 Pro chip and a new Mac Pro said to feature the M2 Max chip as well as an even more powerful chip which may be called the M2 Ultra or M2 Extreme – a successor to the Mac Studio’s M1 Ultra chip. The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will power the next generation of 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Its appealing as the cheapest (comparatively) entry in Apples laptop line, and did not receive the 2016 refresh its counterparts did. Gurman also mentions an entry-level MacBook Pro with an unspecified screen size with the same chipset specs as the M2 MacBook Air. The Air remains an all-time favorite laptop for many, despite Apples relatively infrequent updates to the line. This is also the big reveal of the winner of the first annual WWDC fantasy draft. The all-new MacBook Air featuring a standard M2 chipset at the helm with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. The opening keynote of WWDC 2017 just ended so Cody and Sebastien get together to discuss Apples big announcement including watchOS 4, macOS High Sierra, new Mac hardware, iOS 11, and of course, the HomePod. These are currently being tested with third-party apps and include new MacBook Air, several MacBook Pros, a new Mac Mini and a Mac Pro. Reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman shared some details for the first set to devices expected to utilize Apple’s next-gen M2 chipsets.
